Our plans for today was suddenly put on hold... crap. How long is the rain gonna go on for? Will we will be able to drive out to those places later on in the day?
We ended up sleeping in, had a late lunch and chilled out a bit as we waited for the skies to clear. And it did. So around midday we left our hotel and headed towards Los Gigantes (Cliff of Giants).
- Los Gigantes
Los Gigantes is situated west of the island. We went to lookout point to check out the view of the town with the huge cliff as the backdrop. The views were amazing but there was nothing much to do so we had a quick ice cream break and headed for Masca.
- Masca
Set in the midst of the Teno, Masca is a remote picturesque village nestling in a stunning gorge. This village only became accessible by road thirteen years ago.
Driving in Masca - the views from our car ride were amazing but there were just too many sharp bends. No line marked between the road so when cars were coming from the opposite direction, it seemed as though there wasn't enough space. It was so scary when the buses started coming from the opposite end... all of us were totally freaked out, thinking that we were going crash and roll down the mountain. The bends made us all tired and esp for the driver. Our car was not powerful enough for the steep inclines too. This was definitely one of the most scary drives for me. But being able to stop by and take photos was just amazing... the views were spectacular. We just couldn't believe that we managed to drive so far up the mountain... just amazing!!
- Santiago del Teide
We successfully drove away from Masca. It took ages because of the bends... but we made it! We were all so hungry and it was quite late... around 4-5pm. We found a restaurant in the town and went in to have a quick meal... Grilled chicken for me!! The chicken was nice - it actually reminded me of Nandos chicken... hehe... I actually prefer the one we had in Lanzarote. Nothing can beat that!!
It a shame we couldn't do much today because of the rain and the stupid bends. But i guess, we did get Masca out of the way... so difficult to get to but i'm glad we did it!! El Teide - tomorrow!! Can't wait!!
