Our first official day of siteseeing in Lanzarote. And we went to these places:
- Timanfaya National Park
The Fire Mountains have more than 100 volcanoes. The last eruptions were in 1824 and due to the low rainfall, this area appears much the same as it did just after the eruptions.
Once we parked our cars, we boarded a coach bus that had an audio guide that explained the history of this place. We drove around the mountains looking at the different formations created from the eruptions. The background scenary of these mountains was just amazing... this whole area does have an unique 'Martian' feel to it.
After the ride, we had lunch at the El Diablo restaurant at the National Park. This places serves Canarian food where the meat is cooked using geothermal heat. I was so hungry by the time we had lunch so i was determined to have 1/2 grilled chicken all to myself. Everyone and esp Dat wouldn't believe that i will be able to finish the whole dish by myself... I knew I could so I just patiently waited for my food to come... finish the whole dish... and say "ta da!! I'm finished!!" lol
The grilled chicken was amazing!! One of the best chicken that i've had in ages!! yum yumm!!
- El Golfo
We then drove up the coastal area to El Golfo. It's a semi-circular Volcanic crater filled with sea water that has filtered through the black sand that the separates the lagoon from the sea.
- La Geria (Winery)
We passed through this area so we though to just stop by and checkout out one of the wineries. It was actually quite interesting to see how they grow the vines in the black soil. They are grown in Socos (small semicircular walls) to protect from the constant wind.
- Papagayo beach
The last destination for the day was actually situated inside a national park. We had to pay an entrance fee to find this secluded beach but it was definitely worth it. The sand was not black... the views was amazing... we had a nice relaxing time just chilling around the beach and taking some silly poses... If we had more time then i would def want to come back here on a sunny day...
